As another school year begins, I’ve been reflecting on a moment from my own teen years that changed the way I saw myself. My military father was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany during my High School years. One of the only summer activities for teen girls was playing fast pitch softball. I played. I was a decent runner and hitter, but I was a little timid with catching flys and grounders. One particular game I was playing short field and the hitter hit a ball into the air. It was coming my way. I was given the chance to change the outcome of a game, as well as the outcome of self-doubt.
